At Enchanted Memories Photography, newborn sessions are calm, gentle and completely baby-led, creating timeless images of your baby in a safe and relaxed studio setting.
Based in Swanwick, I photograph newborn babies for families across Derbyshire, including Ripley, Alfreton, Belper, Heanor, South Normanton and the surrounding areas. Every session is designed to feel unhurried, comfortable and tailored to your baby’s needs, with plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles throughout.

My newborn photography studio in Swanwick, Derbyshire is set up to feel warm, peaceful and welcoming for new parents. You do not need to worry about rushing, bringing lots with you or trying to keep to a strict schedule. Sessions are led entirely by your baby, allowing time for breaks whenever needed.
Newborn photography is usually best within the first 5 to 14 days after birth, when babies are often sleepier and curl up naturally. However, slightly older newborn babies can still be photographed beautifully, so please still get in touch if your baby has already arrived.

When to book your newborn photoshoot
The best time to book your newborn photography session is during pregnancy, ideally after your 20 week scan. A limited number of newborn sessions are taken each month to allow flexibility around due dates, so early booking is recommended.
Once your baby arrives, your session date can be adjusted if needed. This gives you peace of mind knowing your space is reserved while still allowing for the unpredictable nature of new arrivals.
What happens during your newborn session
Newborn sessions take place in my Swanwick studio and usually last between 1 and 4 hours depending on the package you choose and how settled your baby is on the day. There is plenty of time for feeding, changing and comforting, so nothing ever feels rushed.
I provide wraps, fabrics, props and accessories, all carefully chosen to keep the look soft, natural and timeless. You are welcome to bring sentimental items if you would like a few personal touches included in your photographs.
If you would like family photographs, I will guide you gently through these too, keeping everything simple and relaxed.

Your newborn session can be completely tailored to your family. If you would like the focus to be purely on your baby, that is absolutely fine. If you would love family photographs too, parents and siblings are very welcome to be included.
These are often some of the most meaningful images in your gallery, capturing not just how tiny your baby was, but the love and connection between you all in those early days.
What to bring to your newborn photoshoot
You only need to bring the everyday essentials for your baby, such as nappies, wipes and bottles if you are bottle feeding. If your baby uses a dummy, it is always helpful to bring that along too.
I provide everything else in the studio, including wraps, props, fabrics and accessories, so you do not need to worry about bringing lots with you. You are also very welcome to bring a special teddy, blanket or sentimental item if you would like to include something personal in your photographs.

Yes. Your baby’s comfort and safety are always my priority. All poses are gentle and completely baby-led, with no forced positioning, and sessions are unhurried so I can follow your baby’s natural rhythm throughout.
What if my baby won’t sleep or becomes unsettled?
That is absolutely fine. Awake moments can be just as special, and I allow plenty of time for settling, feeding and comforting your baby during the session.
If your baby is awake, I can still capture beautiful wide-eyed images. Wrapping often helps babies feel cosy and secure, and many babies drift off once they feel settled. Sessions are never rushed, and I always work patiently around your baby’s needs.
Can parents, siblings or pets be included?
Yes, parents and siblings are very welcome to be included, although this is completely optional and your session can be tailored to suit your family. Family and sibling photographs are included in my Silver and Gold newborn collections.
If you have a dog who is an important part of your family, please feel free to ask about including them for a few photographs too.
What should parents and siblings wear for a newborn photoshoot?
Simple, neutral clothing works best for newborn photographs, as it keeps the focus on your baby and creates a soft, timeless look. I will send guidance before your session to help you prepare and choose outfits that photograph beautifully.
What should I bring to my newborn photoshoot?

My studio is based in Swanwick, Derbyshire, and I welcome families from across the surrounding areas.
When will we receive our photos?
Your images will be ready to view in your online gallery around two weeks after your session. At that point, you can choose your favourite images and decide whether you would like any additional digitals or printed products.
Do you offer prints and wall art?
Yes. Alongside digital images, I also offer a range of beautiful printed products and wall art, so you can enjoy your photographs in your home for years to come.
